02 / How I work

Freelance technical project manager in Amsterdam.

I take platform, API and CMS projects from business case to a live release, and stay on until people actually use what was built. 18+ years across marketplaces, payments and SaaS; right now I run the platform roadmap of Booking.com’s Partner Hub.

Projects I take on

Platform & CMS projects

Content platforms that serve many markets at once: roadmap, migrations, multilingual rollouts and keeping legally required content correct and findable.

  • Booking.com Partner Hub: 30 languages, ~500k partner visits a month
  • Six-month compliance content migration
Read the Partner Hub case

API integrations & partner programmes

Integrations where two companies’ systems and contracts have to line up: specification, partner onboarding, pricing and the commercial terms behind them.

  • €15M+ in monthly API-driven transactions at Marktplaats
  • 17+ API partner contracts renegotiated within a year
Read the API partner programme case

Payments & shipping on marketplaces

Transaction products for buyers and sellers: payment and shipping propositions, vendor selection and the operating processes a launch needs.

  • Payments live on 2dehands.be with Payconiq
  • Buyer protection and DHL shipping prepared for Marktplaats

AI & LLM integration

LLM features taken from pilot to production with measured outcomes, plus the chatbot and workflow automation around them.

  • LLM summaries on 1,100+ Partner Hub pages
  • Workflows reworked for an AI chatbot team

How a project runs

The person who builds the business case also negotiates the contract, specifies the API and checks the rollout dashboard. Fewer hand-overs, and less lost between them.

  1. 01

    Business case & scope

What the project has to change, for whom, and how we will know it worked. Agreed before anything is built.

  2. 02

    Requirements & API specification

Requirements written with engineering and integrations specified in detail, so edge cases surface early.

  3. 03

    Vendors, partners & contracts

Shortlist, negotiation and contract, so the commercial side is ready when the technical side is.

  4. 04

    Delivery with the team

Engineering, UX, legal and marketing working to one plan, with stakeholders kept aligned along the way.

  5. 05

    Launch & adoption

A pilot first where it makes sense, then the rollout, with the operating processes ready on day one.

  6. 06

    Measure & improve

KPI dashboards and OKRs tied back to the business case, and iteration on what the numbers show.

Project manager, product owner or both

Some teams need a technical project manager: someone who runs an integration or migration to a date, keeps engineering, vendors and stakeholders in step, and reports honestly on progress. Others need a product owner who owns the roadmap and the backlog and decides what gets built next.

I have done both, often within the same assignment. At Marktplaats I was project manager on payment and shipping launches and managed the API partner programme; at Booking.com I own the Partner Hub roadmap and deliver the projects on it. The same role also goes by IT project manager, integration project manager or digital project manager. What matters is the work behind the title.

Frequently asked

When are you available?

From Q4 2026, for 4–5 days a week. A short call is the quickest way to check a start date.

Are you a project manager or a product owner?

Both. As technical project manager I get projects live on a date; as product owner I own roadmaps and backlogs. Many assignments need some of each, so tell me which matters most for yours.

Which projects suit you best?

Projects where business, partners and technology meet: platform and CMS work, API integrations and partner programmes, payments and shipping on marketplaces, and AI features that have to work in production, not just in a demo.

Which industries have you worked in?

Online marketplaces (Marktplaats, 2dehands.be), travel (Booking.com), payments, marketing-automation SaaS (Yournii) and online media. Before that, account management in ICT.

Do you only work in Amsterdam?

I’m based in Amsterdam, and most of my work has been for platforms headquartered here, with launches in the Netherlands and Belgium. Booking.com’s Partner Hub serves partners worldwide in 30 languages.

How hands-on are you technically?

Hands-on enough to specify an API, read integration documentation and talk to engineers in their terms. I still build things myself: 25+ websites and digital products through FlowFive, plus AI automations and scripts. I’m not the engineer on your team, though; my job is making sure the engineering lands.
